Liza M. O’Reilly
Liza M. O’Reilly is a member of the United Confederation of Taino People, an indigenous people of Puerto Rico and the Carribean. Ms. O’Reilly graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts in 1999 and William Mitchell College of Law in January, 2003. While in law school, Ms. O’Reilly was an active member of the American Indian Law Student Association, and served as its President during the 2000-2001 school year. In the spring of 2002, she made the Dean’s list and was a recipient of the CALI Award of Excellence. During her last semester at William Mitchell, she served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Paul A. Magnuson, United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, completing legal research and drafting legal memorandum in both criminal and civil cases.
Ms. O’Reilly started at BlueDog, Paulson & Small, P.L.L.P. as a summer law clerk in 2001. She became an associate with the firm in April, 2004. Her practice at the firm includes Indian Law, Federal law as it applies to Indian nations, litigation, corporate law and commercial transactions.
She is admitted to practice in Minnesota and the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Court. She is a member of the Minnesota American Indian Bar Association. As an alumni member, Ms. O’Reilly has volunteered her time with the Office of Multi-cultural Affairs at William Mitchell College of Law. She has also volunteered her time with Indigenous non-profit organizations, including the National Native Youth Crisis Hotline. Ms. O’Reilly is an active participant and volunteer of the Chalchuitlicue Environmental Project and Danza Mexica Cuauhtemoc.
